Rules & Regulations

ONE DAY MEETS:

  1. Flight Classification: Due to the fact that our flights vary at each meet, it is established that the flights are to be divided as equally as possible. Persons with similar handicaps shall be placed in the same flights.
  2. All dates for the One Day Meets and Tournaments are to be set up prior to the Best Ball Tournament by the incoming President.
  3. Each competitor pays for her own greens fees.
  4. The days prizes, quality golf balls, are given after each meet by the Chairperson. Prizes are given for low putts, low gross and low net in each flight. A player may receive only one prize for the day. (Exception: last day tournament, if prizes are plentiful).
  5. In case of bad weather, the President or Chairperson of the day shall decide if play is to be cancelled and notify players. No scores shall be accepted other than on a scheduled day of play.
  6. The times and pairings shall be set up by the Chairpersons of the Day and the schedule shall be followed accordingly.
  7. The Chairperson of the Day shall set up her own committee for posting of scores.
  8. Any two or more players that tie for the seasonal low net or seasonal low gross shall receive a trophy or money.
  9. All entries for One Day Meets must be in the Friday before play. Those persons calling after that will be put on stand-by. If there is a cancellation, players will be entered on a first come, first serve basis. Players have until Thursday before play to cancel with the Chairperson.
  10. IF YOU ARE PAIRED AND DO NOT SHOW UP, CANCEL OR ARE LATE – other than an emergency situation, you will be fined the $10.00 fee which shall be paid to the Association prior to playing in another event.

HANDICAPS:

  1. In order to establish a handicap in the County Association, a player must play 18 holes in a JCWGA sponsored Tournament.
  2. Handicaps are retroactive for one year.
  3. After a player has established a handicap, she shall be put in a flight according to her new established handicap.
  4. Handicap complaints shall be registered BEFORE play to the Handicap Chariperson.
  5. THE MAXIMUM HANDICAP FOR ANY ASSOCIATION MEMBER IS 45.
  6. In the Best Ball Tournament, partners handicaps must be within 10 strokes of each other.
  7. Two scores from JCWGA events must be recorded to be eligible to play in the Best Ball Tournament. Includes the previous year scores, too.

MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENT:

  1. It is the duty of the President to set up the time and place of the yearly tournament.
  2. A person is eligible for the Match Play Tournament if she is a member of the Jackson County Women’s Golf Association.
  3. It is not required that a person plays in One Day Meets in order to play in the Match Play tournament.
  4. It is left to the discretion of the Tournament Chairperson to set up the Tournament. No entry fees for the Match Play Tournament shall be refunded unless deemed necessary by the President.
  5. Tie scores on qualifying day will be broken by scorecard playoffs.

GOLF RULES:

  1. Winter rules will prevail at all courses at which the Association plays.
  2. All putts are to be holed out.
  3. USGA Rules govern all Association play, except when superceded by Association rules.
  4. Rules Chairperson shall handle any questions concerning rules.
  5. All cards must be attested by opposing partner. Cards not attested properly will not be eligible for that day’s play.
  6. When necessary, ties will be broken by Meet Chairperson checking the cards on the eighteenth hole scores or further back.
  7. SLOW PLAY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and will be dealt with accordingly by the Executive Board. There should be no more than one hole open ahead of a group of players.

ETIQUETTE RULES OF GOLF:

  1. No one should move, talk or stand close to the hole of any person making a stroke.
  2. When attending the pin, remove it and place it out of the line of the putt.
  3. On the green, the person farthest from the hole putts first.
  4. The lowest handicap player tees off on the first hole. On all other tees, the winner of the previous hole has the honors.
  5. Do not leave golf bags in front of the green while putting.
  6. No more than 5 minutes should be taken to look for a ball. Let the group behind you play through.
  7. Do not hit from tee or fairway when players ahead are within possible range.
  8. NEVER WALK AHEAD OF THE GROUP THAT YOU ARE PLAYING WITH. The ball farthest from the green plays first and all other players should stand to the side of her.
